          Philippine Airlines has selected IAE International Aero Engines AG's V2500 engines for its Airbus A321 aircraft.

          First deliveries of PAL's new Airbus A321 aircraft will begin by August 2013 and continue within a four year period. PAL has a total order of 44 Airbus A321 aircraft. 10 of which will be Airbus A321neos.

          "We selected the IAE V2500 engine because of its superior fuel efficiency and world-class reliabilty," said Ramon S. Ang, CEO of Philippine Airlines. "The engines are part of a major fleet modernization program we are undertaking."

           The IAE V2500 engine powers over 60% of Airbus A321 aircraft in service. The other 40% of Airbus A321 aircraft are powered by CFM International CFM56 engines.

          Last August 2012, PAL ordered 64 aircraft consisting of 44 Airbus A321-200 aircraft and 20 Airbus A330-300 aircraft amounting to $7 billion dollars.
