          Plans for the construction of a budget terminal at the Clark International Airport in Angeles City, Pampanga will push through. It is expected to begin by the first quarter of 2014 and be completed by 2015.

          The budget terminal will be built on a 45,000 sqm. lot. Transport Secretery Jaime Feliciano said that it will be the second largest terminal in the country. It will only host low-cost carriers.

          The 45,000-sqm budget terminal will increase the capacity of the airport under the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) by about 4 million to 4.5 million passsengers a year according to Feliciano.

          The budget terminal will be linked to the current terminal which will be reserved for legacy airlines once the budget terminal opens in 2015.

          According to the DOTC, 80% of aircraft traffic in the Philippines belongs to low-cost carriers. They said that this is the reason on why they need to build a budget terminal in Clark.

          The DOTC has alloted 6 Billion Pesos for the construction of the budget terminal. The new terminal will be able to handle 4.5 million passengers.

         Clark's current terminal is able to handle 2 million passengers every year. It is also currently being expanded and will be completed in time for the first flight of Emirates this October.

         The Clark International Airport is currently served by low-cost carriers AirAsia Berhad of Malaysia, AirAsia Philippines, Cebu Pacific Air, JinAir, and Tigerair Philippines. It is also served by legacy carriers Asiana Airlines and Dragonair with Emirates and Qatar Airways beginning flights to Clark on October 1 and October 28 respectively.
