The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) lifted the suspension of Zest Air last Tuesday, August 20, 2013.

The suspension was made after an inspection of the airline which recommended an immediate suspension.

Three aircraft were allowed to fly by CAAP airworthiness inspectors on Tuesday after another inspection according to CAAP Deputy Director General John Andrews. The rest of the airline's fleet remained in inspection.

"This is a relief and welcome news", said Zest Air Director Joy Caneba.

One plane was immediately used for flights to China as many Chinese passengers were stranded.

More or less 7,000 passengers were affected by the suspension of the airline. Other passengers were booked by Zest Air on other airlines.

Zest Air is owned by juice magnate Alfredo Yao and AirAsia Philippines which is the local unit of Malaysia - based AirAsia Berhad.

The airline flies to 9 domestic destinations which are Bacolod, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Kalibo, Puerto Princesca, Tacloban and Tagbilaran and to 5 international destinations which are Shanghai, Jinjang, Seoul - Incheon, Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur.
